He graduated from the University of the West of England in Bristol with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in 2000. He worked for several years in the Wales and England where he developed a broad knowledge and experience of many areas within physiotherapy before embarking on what is his passion of treating musculoskeletal injuries.
Liam has worked in both public and private setting both in the Republic of Ireland as well as the UK and South Africa. His main interest of musculoskeletal injuries was initially sparked whilst working with underage high performance athletes in Wales. On returning to Mayo to take up a post in Mayo University Hospital he also worked for the Mayo Minors and Ladies team before taking up a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist post in Mayo University Hospital in 2006. In the same year Liam commenced his MSc in Manchester Metropolitan University. This MSc is considered one of the difficult MSc in Musculoskeletal physiotherapy. This MSc provided fantastic opportunities to work alongside and be mentored by consultant physiotherapist who were experts within their specialised area. This also cemented his expertise and skills in the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal injuries.
On completion of his MSc in 2010, Liam was successful in completing the Advanced Physiotherapy course which lead he to successfully been appointed clinical specialist physiotherapist in Mayo University Hospital. This role has allowed him develop his skills and knowledge significantly. He has completed a Diploma in Injection Therapy for musculoskeletal pathologies and various post graduate modules on image interpretation. Currently his main area of interest is the use of diagnostic ultrasound to aid diagnosis and subsequent treatment of musculoskeletal injuries.
Liam is passionate on delivering high-quality patient-centred care. He understands that without making the patient the focus of the treatment any rehabilitation programme, no matter how good, is bound to fail. His belief is that the goal of every session is to make targeted, evidence-based treatment choices so that it leads to a successful outcome both in the short and long term.
He is involved with Health Promotion Social Media Campaigns within the Mayo Area, speaks regularly at local Osteoporosis Information Talks and always practices what he preaches when it comes to exercising!
I believe in providing fast and effective management of all musculoskeletal injuries. We vary our hands-on treatment based on the individual, not the diagnosis, to help you move better and stronger.
